'Gay lovers' programme did not breach broadcasting guidelines, says hong kong high court

In its judgement handed down today, the Hong Kong High Court said it disagreed with the Broadcasting Authority's earlier ruling that a TV programme that discussed same sex marriage was deemed to have breached broadcasting guidelines for not including anti-gay views.

377 petition hearing set by Delhi high court

The battle by the Naz Foundation India to amend Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code will continue in the Delhi High Court on May 19. Justin Ellis spoke to Sumit Baudh of the South and Southeast Asia Resource Centre on Sexuality (SSARCS) about the petition and its likelihood of success.

Banned a decade ago in Singapore, Wilde which depicts the rise and fall of the widely known gay English playwright, Oscar Wilde, will be shown at a Gala Fundraiser on May 13 to benefit Indignation, Singapore's gay pride season.

Singapore TV station fined $15,000 for showing a ''normal'' gay family

The authorities on Thursday fined a free-to-air station S$15,000 for airing a programme that showed a gay couple and their adopted baby; on the same day, a segment of the Ellen DeGeneres Show where the host condemned homophobia and the recent murder of a 15-year-old gay student was glaringly snipped by the same TV station.

Thai Red Cross reverses ban on gay blood donors

The Red Cross of Thailand announced last week that it would change its screening process for blood donors following strong protest from gay rights groups reacting to an earlier announcement on a blanket ban of gay blood donors.

Taiwan presidential election candidates discuss same-sex marriage in televised debate

Taiwan will go to the polls this Saturday to elect a successor to Chen Shui-bian of the Democratic Progressive Party who has held office since 2000. Last month, same-sex marriage came up during a televised debate between KMT's Ma Ying-Jeou of and DPP's Frank Hsieh.

Police raid private house party near Mumbai

Indian gay web sites and email groups are abuzz with chatter after Thane police raided a private party and arrested six men on Saturday night. While some are concerned that the raid might be part of a larger crackdown, a prominent member of a gay group has called on the community to calm down and not retreat into their closets.

What lies behind Siu Cho's struggle in RTHK case

Following the Broadcasting Authority's ruling that a programme discussing same-sex marriage is "biased towards homosexuality" and that future programmes may be required to include anti-gay views, Joseph Cho who appeared in the programme has sought a judicial review of the matter.
